Here are the results of the Called Congregational Meeting which took place on Sunday, September 8:

1. The motion to call Rev. Kyle Parker as Senior Pastor passed by a vote via secret ballot: 224 for, 7 against, and 1 abstention. This is a 97% affirmative vote. 
2. The motion to approve the terms of the call as presented by the Session passed by a voice vote. 
3. Jamie Lumpkin was nominated and elected to sign the call on behalf of the church.
4. Danny Wachs was nominated and elected to bring the proposed call before the Evangel Presbytery.
5. The motion to dissolve the Pastoral Search Committee with thanks upon the installation of Kyle Parker as Senior Pastor passed without objection. 

Kyle has accepted the call as voted on by the congregation. The call is now in the hands of Evangel Presbytery’s Credentials Committee. The Presbytery (through the Credentials Committee) is required to examine Kyle on his theological views and Christian experience, and then vote whether to approve his call and his transfer from Gulf Coast Presbytery to Evangel Presbytery.  We do not yet have an expected date of his arrival but will keep the congregation posted. 

Thank you for your diligent prayer for the search committee and staff throughout this process, and please continue to pray for the Parkers and AVPC as we look forward to this next season.

You’re invited to come help with another park work day, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, at 8:00 AM. A variety of projects are on the list. Please bring your work gloves and garden tools, such as shovels and wheelbarrows. Pizza will be provided for lunch.

Sunday School Communities have started a series based on the book True Community by Jerry Bridges. The goal of this series is to strengthen our community life together in this time of transition. 

Join your AVPC sisters this Fall as we study through Exodus. Monday studies will begin on September 9 at 2:30 PM in the Conference Room. Wednesday studies will begin on September 11 at 9:00 AM in the Parlor, and 7:00 PM at the home of Lea Anne Parker. Friday studies will begin on September 13 at 1:00 PM at the home of Judy Bates.
