Women
As a women’s ministry, we specifically aim to give opportunities for women to grow in their faith in Christ so that their daily lives are impacted. We also want to equip others to use their gifts to make an impact for the kingdom. How is this done? We offer a variety of programs, including a weekly Bible Study, opportunities for discipleship relationships, times for fellowship and fun, and an annual winter retreat.
Bible Study – Wednesday Mornings
Meets at 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Church Parlor (Free childcare for children of all ages)
Every Wednesday morning we look forward to meeting with the Father as we open his word together and listen to what he has to say to us. We also delight in the opportunity to meet with one another, growing relationships as we pray and process in our small group time. Study topics vary and an occasional fellowship brunch is known to happen. Studies typically follow a school calendar (September – May).
Bible Study – Monday Afternoons
Meets at 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. (no childcare is provided for this study time)
If you can’t make the Wednesday morning timeframe, an alternative group, doing the same study, meets off campus, in someone’s home on Monday afternoons. Study guides for the most current study will be available for purchase in the Parlor. Questions? Contact Wendy Allison (wendy.allison83@gmail.com)
Bible Study – Friday Afternoons
Meets at 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. (no childcare is provided for this study time)
One more available timeframe, an alternative group, doing the same study, meets off campus, in someone’s home on Friday afternoons. Study guides for the most current study will be available for purchase in the Parlor. Questions? Contact Wendy Allison (wendy.allison83@gmail.com)
Regular Fellowship Activities
Annual Luncheons
We believe a lot of good things happen around the table. And so, in our not-so-typical women’s luncheons, throughout the year, we gather in small groups of 6-8 women, usually once a quarter, to enjoy food and conversation. This is a wonderful time for every lady, from new attenders to seasoned members to get to know each other on a more personal level. Then, in the Fall, we all come together for our church-wide women’s Fall luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.
Women’s Retreat
That the study and application of God’s word and the building of Christ-centered relationships will help women understand and apply the gospel in their daily lives. In order to accomplish this, our retreat team makes it a priority to plan a retreat each year that provides gospel-centered teaching and an extended time of fellowship in a relaxed environment. Typically held in the Spring – dates vary, so watch the bulletin for announcements.
Hosting baby showers for expectant mothers
As a covenant body, we want to encourage new mothers with a word of encouragement and time of prayer. In lieu of gifts, we collect a cash gift to be given to each mother. If you would be interested in helping plan or host these baby showers, please contact Ashley Putman (putmama@gmail.com).
Men
Altadena Valley’s Men’s Ministry believes God calls men to be leaders in their homes, church, workplace and community, so we intentionally provide men opportunities to be challenged and even pushed forward into their roles as servant leaders and ambassadors of the Kingdom of Christ.
We believe a vibrant love for Christ and a proper understanding of the Gospel will yield the following fruit in men’s lives:
- A growing intimacy with Christ so he can shepherd, nurture and protect his family
- A life characterized by meeting the needs of others
- A developing core of committed and supportive friends
- A pro-active interface with the world around him
- A growing confidence and competency in sharing the gospel in the workplace
- A desire to convey the work of Christ in his own life to other men
