Philosophy

God’s House Kindergarten is a ministry of the Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church. We seek to serve as the parents’ authorized representative in the child’s training process, not to assume the task which God gives to parents. Because the school tries to follow the Bible’s instruction as far as discipline and parenting, we hope to provide harmony between training received at home and at school. Likewise, the school expects parents to direct and discipline their children accordingly. God’s House Kindergarten is committed both in and out of the classroom to direct the development of the student so as to enable him to translate the educational experience he receives here into Christian living. The school is committed to proclaiming the gospel to the students and parents through our educational process. This is done not only through our classroom, but also at school programs and by way of correspondence and interaction through the children to their home environment.

Options for Care

Our 5K kindergarten runs five days a week (Monday through Friday) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We also offer other class options in our 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s. Age-appropriate materials teach sounds and letters in a phonics-based approach and lay the foundation for the later introduction of reading skills. God’s House is a safe and friendly atmosphere where the children are taught Biblical principles and encouraged to grow into well-rounded individuals.

Daycare program is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. five days a week for children ages 2 ½ – 5.

The children enrolled in daycare are in a preschool class between 9 a.m. and noon (three hours total) with the same teacher each day. After lunch, they have a nap time; then if the weather permits, they have free play outside. During the day the children are provided two snacks and a healthy lunch.
